The group of Manhatan College received a formation on fare trade !
It is a day of learning for the group of College Manhatan from New York. We visit a factory fare trade of cocoa. Who would have thought that good chocolate from the grocery store had come from so far! We then embark on a truck that leads us to the Esperanza Center Mujeres. Here a feast awaits us for dinner. We then finish the day with a reflection high in the mountains. We take time to reflect and write our thoughts on the week! An evening on the sea to share our discoveries.
Visite at the De La Salle brothers high school
Young people from New York see from there eyes a hard reality. In the bario Simon Bolivar they meet with brothers that are teaching in a poor bario. The group discover a school that is build by a group of youth from Ottawa Canada. The day ends visiting the cathedrale and meeting up with Dominique who is on the university sponsorship program. It is a difficult day but mainly we do says clearly that life is so different if you have a good education. It is possible to get out of poverty through education.
