Some history
In 1492 Christopher Columbus discovered the island and called Española (the Spanish) that cartographers then calls Hispaniola (Little Spain). The Dominican Republic is the first American countries, which were built the first cathedral, first hospital, the first university ... Saint-Domingue became the first tourist destination in the Caribbean, to Cuba, for many reasons: it is not really in Santo Domingo for its architectural treasures (rare outside the capital) but for its natural treasures, starting by hundreds of miles of white sandy beach lined with coconut trees.
Add to that a lot of sun, the ubiquitous local music (bachata, merengue), fishing villages, whales, crocodiles, the highest peak in the Caribbean (Pico Duarte) ... and you’ll have all the ingredients for a dream vacation! Without forgetting that African subtle atmosphere, made up of small slices of life, bright smiles, looks warm, multicolored images and a kind of each moment.
A little video of how it could of been in the beginning when the Dominican Republic was discovered
